Our Process
Process / FAQs

Consultation
We'll take a look at your hair and skin, evaluate your goals, go over details, and collaborate so you have an idea if Electrolysis is right for you!
A consultation also includes a sample treatment so we can see how your skin reacts, what modality works best for you, and so you can see if it's a process you think you can tolerate.
It's a marathon, not a sprint!
First Clearance
Our first goal is to make a first clearance of the target area.
This could take one appointment, it could take 5, it could take 20 - Every case is unique and this will vary wildly depending on your hair density and surface area of the target area.
The hair you see growing on your body right now is potentially only 20-30% of the follicles that can be active. Your body cycles through using different follicles as they go through their natural growth phases.
Some people might take up to 18 months for every follicle to be in rotation and treatable.
Once we make a full first clearance, we can hopefully have shorter and less frequent appointments as follicles rotate in.
Regrowth Management
As new follicles cycle in after our first clearance, we'll keep clearing as it comes.
Eventually we'll get to a point where our appointments are just quick cleanups of stray hairs, and we can see the finish line!
Tearful Goodbyes
You made it. Congratulations on never shaving again. We're proud of you. Your skin looks great. We're gonna cry. Go live your best life, and don't forget to write.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about electrolysis? We've compiled answers to the most common questions we receive. If you don't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Honestly... Usually, yes. Sorry. At the best of times it's mildly uncomfortable, at the worst of times it sucks, and will vary depending on the area and the individual.
If pain proves to be a barrier for you, we can try numbing cream, working slower, or using a different modality.
In 2026 we are also offering longer treatment sessions with lidocaine injections for pain-free and rapid surgery prep, supervised by a registered nurse.
Almost any hair, almost anywhere!
The rare areas we can't treat are mostly mucus membranes, moles, near the eyes, and internal areas.
Fun fact: The first use of electrolysis was to treat an ingrown eyelash in 1875! Ironically, this is one of the few places electrologists are very hesitant to work on.
Every body is unique, this depends on your hair density and the area treated.
Your body cycles through active follicles, which means the active hair growth you see is potentially only 20-30% of the potential growth.
This means on some areas of the body could take 12-18 months to "see" and therefore treat every follicle, assuming we stick to our schedule. This also assumes that we are making full clears which may not initially be the case for dense areas.
Regular appointments are key to achieving our goals.
Yes!
We take hygiene and disinfection very seriously. Critical tools (pointy things) are in single use packages and disposed of after each use into a sharps container.
Semi-critical tools (Forceps etc) are put into a sealed container after each client, then thoroughly scrubbed and disinfected at the end of the day. Once tools dry, we package them individually in packets to stay as sterile as possible until they're drafted into the follicle war again.
We use disposable gloves, masks, and other PPE gear plus disinfection of hands and surfaces between clients.
This will depend on your insurance plan, but we have plenty of clients who get electrolysis reimbursed. Various insurance providers will require different documentation or additional information on receipts, so feel free to get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
If you aren't sure whether your insurance covers electrolysis, inquire with your plan provider.
We do not offer direct billing for insurance claims.
Yes! Electrolysis is for everyone. Whether you have beautiful black skin or beautiful white skin or a beautiful shade between, electrolysis can work for you. It works on all skin types and colours of hair.
Different skin and hair types have different challenges, so we'll use a method that works best for your unique body, prioritizing your skin's health.
To say Electrolysis carries 0 risk would be a lie, but the risks are extremely low.
Our technicians work with the minimal amount of power required to destroy the follicle, and we're careful to not apply too much power to the skin.
Since we're working under surgical magnification and on a follicle by follicle basis, we're able to greatly minimize the risk of skin damage.
More common side effects include redness, swelling, and sensitivity in the treated area for up to 48 hours. Skin may itch and feel hot in the treated area for up to 48 hours.
Some may also experience hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation (lightening or darkening of the treated area), but these are temporary and resolution can be sped up with aftercare products.
Yes! But we'll exercise a lot of caution and work slowly in tattooed areas; preserving your art is important to us. Plus we'd hate to disappoint your tattoo artist.
We recommend doing a tiny test patch first to see how the skin reacts.
Woah, someone did their research! NERRRRRRRRRRRRD!
Our modality will depend on the specific client's needs and some may find certain modalities more comfortable than others, but all our practitioners are capable of working with Thermolysis, Blend, and Galvanic.
For facial work we use a combination of Blend and Thermolysis.
Body work modalities will vary a lot based on density and coarseness of hair, but we tend to prefer Thermolysis here.
Ultimately the techniques we use are suited to you specifically, since there's no one on earth with skin and hair exactly like yours.
Maybe! Laser can be a great solution for some, but struggles to treat certain skin and hair types.
If you're interested in laser in Toronto, we recommend contacting Bluebird Laser.
Ultimately many laser recipients will need electrolysis towards the end due to hair bleaching and stubborn follicles that laser can't quite reach, so perhaps we'll see you later!
Many Electrologists see Laser as a competing service. We see Laser Technicians as comrades in the war against unwanted follicles.
Our goal is not to sell electrolysis; our goal is to help people reach their hair removal goals regardless of what clinic you end up in.
If you come to a consult with us and we think you'd get some quick wins with laser, we'll be honest with you and help you make an informed choice.
Samesies, bestie.
Yes, we wear masks and other PPE gear plus frequent sanitization.
Clients are also encouraged to wear masks in the waiting room / common areas, and in the treatment room if we're working below the neck.
Skeletons are cool. There's one in you right now. Look behind you, there's also one behind you! CAN'T YOU SEE IT? IT'S GETTING CLOSER. SERIOUSLY LOOK BEHIND YOU!
