Love your skin, and it'll love you back
Pre & Post Appointment Care

Before your session:
There needs to be enough length for the hair to be grasped with forceps without digging into your skin. 2 days of growth is usually enough, but everyone's different and some areas grow slower than others. No need to grow a killer handlebar mustache, but more length helps us understand the direction of growth.
Too much hair can also be an issue, as when hair is long enough to curl and overlap it makes for a harder time finding the follicle opening / grasping the hair without grabbing others.
We understand that having to grow hair to get rid of it is a devilishly cruel irony, so we'll work with you to ensure you can time your shaving to ensure you are minimizing fuzzy time.
It can disrupt the follicle's natural growth which means more challenging sessions for everyone and a longer timeline to get results. Tweezing can also gradually distort the follicle's natural state, creating coarser and more firmly rooted hair.
If you use harsh skincare on the target area like retinol, glycolic / salicylic acid etc, please discontinue usage at least 5 days prior to the appointment. Unsure if your skincare is harsh? Ask us! Certain prescription skincare may need a longer waiting period.
Hydrated bodies make hydrated skin, hydrated skin makes easier electrolysis sessions for you.
Moisturized and exfoliated skin will react better to electrolysis. If we're working on the face, make sure any facial makeup is removed.
Electrolysis can be stressful for the body, and like anything stressful it's easier when you aren't hungry.
A little is okay, but a lot of caffeine can decrease pain tolerance.
After your session:
Some expected side effects may include redness, swelling, and sensitivity in the treated area for up to 48 hours. Skin may itch and feel hot in the treated area for up to 48 hours.
- Picking or scratching, itching etc
- Tanning, harsh direct sunlight, etc. This highly increases the risk of hypopigmentation / hyperpigmentation. If you must go in the sun, use a gentle sunscreen.
- Scented moisturizers, exfoliating, makeup
- Tubs, swimming, etc
- Showering is okay, but be careful not to scrub the treated area. When drying off, pat to dry the treated area - any abrasion is bad news including towels!
- Tight clothing on treated area.
Try: Aloe Vera gel gently applied via clean cotton pad, or Epsom salt compression.
Do your best to avoid plucking / tweezing - Shaving is fine as long we have a bit of growth at the appointment. Plucking / tweezing will interrupt hair growth cycles, damage follicles, and ultimately make our goalpost farther away.
You know your body and skin best; be sure to respect the treated area for best results. You deserve the best possible results and the healthiest possible skin.
Electrolysis is a team effort, you taking the best care of your skin helps us achieve the results you deserve.
